Grant Project Teacher Event

Natural Innovations was proud to present our grant project strengthening environmental education by connecting classrooms to the community on April 22nd in Detroit Lakes. Both teachers and environmental agencies in attendance received a lead free flash drive (made from recycled plastic) full of all sorts of good information including area resources and programs available to teachers and the community, a framework of expectation, SEEK information, grad standards made easy and much more. Everyone also received a nifty natural Innovations recycled plastic clipboard. Schools and environmental agencies in our service area will each receive a set of books to share as well giving great information on environmental education and program ideas.

Thanks to all for attending. But, if you couldn't make it, we still have a few extra clipboards, resource manuals and flash drives to hand out. If you are interested, please contact us. Supplies are limited so don't delay.

Environmental Education Teacher Event

Yesterday, April 22, National Innovations sponsored an event for teachers at the Minnesota Statte Community and Technical College. Teachers learned about the many resources right at their fingertips to enhance environmental education in and out of their classrooms. This project made possible through a grant from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.

Minnesota Environmental Education Week

Governor Pawlenty has announced Minnesota will recognize for the first time National Environmental Education Week. The purpose is for educators to raise awareness about the benefits of environmental education. (To view Governor Pawlenty's Proclamation), National Environmental Education (EE) Week is the single largest organized environmental education event in the United States. Made possible by Canon, it increases the educational impact of Earth Day by creating a full week of environmentally-themed lessons and activities in K-12 classrooms, nature centers, zoos, museums, and aquariums. Over the span of EE Week 2007 the combined efforts of nearly 1,450 schools, nature centers, museums, zoos, and other educational institutions taught over 3.5 million students about the importance of caring for our natural environment. EE Week is coordinated by the National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF) in cooperation with thousands of outstanding schools, environmental education organizations, education associations, and state and federal agencies.
